Laughter and music enlivened Tintenbar Up Front on Friday night. We started with beautiful keyboard melodies, thoughtful lyrics and the haunting voice of Josie Finn. Think young Kate Miller-Heidke, or Sally Seltman. Wow! Then came another wonderful young performer. Leigh Cross played enthusiastic, tasteful guitar and sang with passion a couple of oldies (Sam Cooke) and a newie. Pete Wilson added resonator guitar to the many instruments he has played at TUF before, showing a softer side and playing tunes from his new album amongst others. Pat Breen finished off the musical section with virtuosic keyboard accompaniments to a variety of wonderful older songs ( including Sam Cooke). Pete Wilson jammed on Pat's last blues song. Then it was an extravaganza of comedy. Bob Walker and, later, his son Ryan got us giggling and guffawing with lots of jokes, often aimed at their own idiosyncrasies and observations. Leigh Cross showed his versatility as a performer with impersonations of about a dozen well known personalities from Humphrey Bogart to Dustin Hoffman. Rudy Surina created a world from his taxi driving experiences. Peter Lino linked it all together by getting the men laughing like evil scientists, the women laughing in disbelief at the men, and the whole audience clucking like chooks. Thanks to the audience for making it a memorable night with their warm response. Check out the Photos Hi you Tintenbar Up Front regulars.
