Vincent Cross is known for his Irish song poetry that draws from various traditional folk idioms and ancient myths. He was born in Ireland, raised in Australia, and is now based in New York City.
He has released four critically acclaimed albums and performed with artists such as Glen Hansard, Odetta, Damien Rice, The Pogues Ron Kavana and Roy Book Binder. "I heard a crystal clear voice that took me back to when I was being introduced to mountain music groups, and families in Appalachia. It was a pleasure to hear such beauty coming out of Vincent Cross" (ODETTA) Vincent is touring Australia with his latest album "A Place Where Songs Come to Live". The Tintinbar show double bill with local legend Jimmy Dowling sees two extremely talented individuals come together for an evening of beautifully crafted folk songs and poetry. |
Jimmy Dowling's music has a raw but skilled quality - authentic, confident, and engages your attention in its emotive, visual language. You'll find a nostalgic empathy and visceral reflection of the everyday, of the everyman. The tracks are poetic in lyrics and music, pushing boundaries and expectations. Dowling's strong delivery shines beyond the mediocre to touch your imagination. |
